Surprising the summer is almost over! Time flies. It has been a very interesting, if not amusing, summer. I have been doing well aside from the usual complaints. The medication though is taking it's toll on my mid section. I look as though I drink beer 24/7, or I swallowed a basketball. I knew it would happen, but 4 years into it? I know anyone taking HIV meds knows it's from the medication; it's lipodystrophy symptom which is when your body does not know how to break down the fat. They can do liposuction to decrease the stomach bloating.
It may sound vain but it is actually a medical problem which can cause numerous problems to the patient( me). I do have bloating and gastrointestinal problems which I have had since day 1, but like most of the side effects I have learned to take them in stride. I was working out like crazy at the beginning trying to make the muscles stronger in my body. I know it didn't hurt but it wasn't curing the problem so I will go "under the knife " in October. So I will continue my working out - the ritalin has been good for that. Even on my bad days I can still gather it up to work out for a hour and take long walks with the dog.
The abundance of fresh locally grown foods has been a great help. They are everywhere and so good for us. I love to cook so it's quite fun when everything is fresh and delicious. I usually have a full dinner daily. The mornings are usually fruit and yogurt, eggs ( I only get Pete and Jens), plus all the water I can drink which is no less than 8 large glasses full. Eating and drinking are key to a happy body on these killer drugs we take. The nutrients can calm the body and strengthen it .
Brightest Blessings for now ! Be well my friends and enjoy life !
